The Fight Should Be In Being Memorable - Just Not Like This
Prior to contrary belief (and behavior) speed is not of the essence in today’s open and connected world. The odds are what you’re jumping the gun to “break” is already on Twitter.
So what does matter is the actual care placed in the content you put out.
CNN and Fox News served as a reminder today that it doesn’t pay to jump to conclusions - all in the name of “being first.” When you’re wrong, it chips away at the brand authority.

And then here comes the “my bad” (notice they even trolled one of their own, Piers Morgan.)

This mistake kind of reminds me of Mitt Romney’s “Amercia,” that app with the gaffe.
It was pretty funny watching how people made fun of that for weeks.
Now it’s CNN and Fox News people are making fun of. We’re moving too fast.
Time to slow down and think differently. It’s time to put more care into the content you’re offering. Tell people something they don’t already know regarding these breaking news stories because believe it or not, they are already talking about “breaking news” on Twitter.
Put more stock into being memorable in breaking news times - just not like this.
